Your work will help researchers better understand when and why FOG episodes occur. This will improve the ability of medical professionals to optimally evaluate, monitor, treat, and ultimately, prevent FOG events. If we can prevent FOG, we can decrease incidents of depression, falls, and fractures, and increase the independence of people with Parkinson’s who suffer from FOG.
\n
We’re incredibly grateful that you have contributed to this data challenge over the past 3 months, sharing your time and expertise with the Parkinson’s disease research community. We have been heartened watching you all help each other in the Kaggle forums. It has been great to see what can be achieved when working together via open science.
\n
We hope that you enjoyed participating and that you will walk away from the experience with an expanded knowledge of the world of Parkinson’s and movement disorders. Now, the PD research community will begin translating the tremendous work that you have done here into real-world solutions to help those with PD. We hope to find more opportunities to work with you all. If you are interested in doing more for the Parkinson’s community, you can get involved by signing up for a research study, advocating in your global community, or organizing or joining a local fundraiser.
