It's just that in the example submission they randomly predicted either 0 or 1, possibly because this keeps the file smaller (integer size &lt; real number size).</p>\n\n<p>As a side note, you don't really have to predict in [0, 1]; in ROC-AUC (the metric used in this competition) the scale of the values does not matter. But you shouldn't worry about that.</p>",
