  "content": "<p>Apologies if it's off-topic but since everyone's waiting for the competition to be updated, figured it'd be a good time to chat about Science Fictions books.</p>\n<p>I wanted to recommend the \"Three Body Problem\" series by Cixin Liu. Pretty neat take on first contact and the Fermi Paradox.</p>\n<p>Anyone else read any good SF recently?</p>",

      "content": "<p>I'm currently reading through the Xeelee sequence by Stephen Baxter. It explores some really interesting concepts in physics and sociology and I'd definitely recommend it.</p>\n<p>The SF book I'd recommend the most is Dark Universe by   Daniel F. Galouye. It's basically about a society of humans that has evolved over several centuries in absolute darkness and how that has affected their perception of sounds and touch, and eventually, light. It's a great book.</p>",

          "content": "<p>For a mix of formal and informal read, I suggest going along the lines of Sir Roger Penrose’s books and papers. </p>\n<p>In fact he proposed many theories, although some might find it radical, others believe it religiously. </p>\n<p>Interestingly, he is able to “prove”, that there is no chance (near 0 probability) that the universe started off randomly; the rough argument goes into the second law of thermodynamics and all. I’m not super good in physics so could only manage to understand the intuition behind his books. </p>\n<p>I’m not sure if he is ever so implicitly implying that there’s a higher being that kickstarted the birth of “our universe”. </p>",
