I really don't get the point of the first deadline, and I always submit at least something (zero's, mean, samplesubmission.csv) as soon as I download the data. It sucks to work on your first solution for weeks then find out you've missed the first deadline.</p>",

      "content": "<p>It's an anti-cheating measure. Cheaters are generally lazy and opportunistic, and were creating sock-puppet accounts on the last day in order to&nbsp;try their last-minute ideas / buy more tickets to the lottery. The 1-week cutoff&nbsp;has cut down on that behavior a lot.</p>",
