  "content": "<p>As stated in the <a href=\"https://www.kaggle.com/c/sartorius-cell-instance-segmentation/data\" target=\"_blank\">data page</a> of the competition, the labels have overlapping portions. While the median overlap fraction is 2 %, three images exhibit very high overlap fractions. A stripplot of the overlap fractions as a function of the cell type is as follows:</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://raw.githubusercontent.com/tdincer/Kaggle-Images/main/11_2021/OverlapFractions.png\" alt=\"\"></p>\n<p>Furthermore, a visual inspection of the instances shows that these high overlap fractions are the result of duplicated instances or the overlap of small instances on larger instances.
