Having the deadline on 31st of December sounds a bit unfortunate to me, especially for people who are travelling (home) over Christmas / new year. We all know how stressful competitions can be during the last few days.
\nI think having the deadline maybe 1-2 weeks earlier would reduce the stress over that period. But maybe thats just me :) Curious what others think.

One option was to push the competition deadline even earlier but we felt that it was more important to have the competition live for a longer period. We hope that it wont introduce too much stress for everyone participating.

It's inconvenient for some people but others really appreciate that they will be on vacation and will have extra time away from work or school that they can use to focus on the challenge.
