  "content": "<p>Apparently there is a new feature that allows the creator of a notebook to turn off comments from other users.     </p>\n<p><img src=\"https://www.googleapis.com/download/storage/v1/b/kaggle-forum-message-attachments/o/inbox%2F862519%2F15c5ace7a83a16a47bcd45f7b4287397%2FScreenshot%202020-12-26%20at%2014.56.15.png?generation=1608993085567240&amp;alt=media\" alt=\"\"></p>\n<p>I am wondering what's the reason behind this choice?<br>\nIs there an announcement where I can read some motivations about that?</p>\n<p>To me it looks like if someone wants to publish something controversial a) he/she can do it at any time (ignoring, for instance, the warning on publishing high scoring kernels), b) people won't be able to downvote (a long standing issue), c) (since a few months) people cannot even let others know what is wrong with the content of the notebook and <em>dulcis in fundo</em> d) I can upvote my work.     <br>\nSo the worst that can happen it's to get only 1 upvote…</p>",

      "content": "<p>Probably you are insinuating the new high scoring notebook… They turn off the comments because they know it's wrong but they still do it for their selfish goals! They will collect some sad upvotes but they lose the respect of the community.</p>",

      "content": "<p>I think Kaggle medals are a nice way to leverage once DS skill in a market that is more and more competitive…</p>\n<p>But indeed, not only the people doing that damage the global effect of those medals, but they don't help themselves as they will basically learn nothing from the competition for their own career… (and they might discourage people that worked hard to earn a bronze medal and get out of the ladder because of this…)</p>",

It's doesn't cause them any harm because they have capacity to be in top finishes whereas we who are learner's, learn from them and then use it at multiple places.</p>\n<p>It's a shame on such forkers and thanks to them for ruining the LB and the spirit to compete.</p>",
