  "content": "<p>Of course I don't want to run afoul of any laws.</p>\n\n<p>Would it be legal to set up a pass through U.S. entity that just passes the prize money on to anybody who comes up with the right algorithm?</p>\n\n<p>If Kaggle allowed multiple entries, this would be trivial since the entity could put one entry per team.</p>\n\n<p>I imagine that it would be taxed at the entity level so the prize winner would get awarded post-tax money.</p>\n\n<p>Just thinking out aloud.</p>",

Such an organization would have to satisfy Federal System for Award Management guidelines, including having no members of the board who are resident on a restricted countries list. That application would have to be complete within 30 days of entering the competition.</p>\n\n<p>Remember, the award money is authorized through Federal legislation. It is tax money, and the stipulations that come with spending U.S. tax money are often significantly higher than private funds.</p>",
