"content": "
I'm an NFL fan and never heard of some punters having a different style, but there are quite a few. The Scouting data has 4095 Standard punts and 1781 Nose-down, Aussie-style. Can someone explain the difference/supply a source? It's weirdly difficult to google.
",

      "content": "
Disclaimer: I watch much more AFL than NFL.
\n
If you look at videos of normal punts and Aussie-style punts, you'll notice the difference easily.
\n
The main difference is in the angle of the ball when it is dropped. From what I've seen after a solid 15 minutes of research, in normal punts, the punter drops the ball flat or almost flat. Aussie-style punts are much more nose-down (hence the name), and they are just like how players kick the ball in the AFL (with some adaptations to suit the needs of NFL e.g. adjusting to maximize hang time). If you're interested in how they teach kids to kick a ball in Australia, have a look at this video featuring one of the sport's greats.
",
