Congratulations to the winners , and new grandmasters and masters , thanks a lot to Jigsaw for organizing this competition . Tweet Sentiment Extraction and Jigsaw Multilingual are the two competitions I started my NLP and Kaggle journey with and Today I have bagged silver medals in both of them . The last day was very tense for us and we did a lot of brainstorming for the final submissions , it was very tricky especially after the shakeups seen in Tweet competition .
\n\nI could not express how happy I am right now with this . I started out kaggle with just the motivation of making good kernels but I got addicted to the process and come so far . Kaggle has boosted my confidence immensely , I was even scared of joining a kaggle competition two months ago , now I can write pytorch code from scratch , and confident enough to fight with any data science problem in general.
\n\nWhen I was starting out ,there was this notion floating around that to be in top 5 percent you need to have a master degree or phd , have a lot of gpu power,etc . Well to all of those starting out I want to say I am an undergraduate student from India whose laptop got stolen in Feb 2020 , if you are willing to learn and work hard , there is no stopping you.
\n\nMy thinking has completely changed now , I started out to make my profile shine , get upvotes on my kernel , get kernel medals ,etc but now I just feel like learning and contributing to the community , medals , upvotes and notion of tiers have become secondary to me . This change happenend due to the elite kagglers like @philippsinger @cpmpml @parulpandey @abhishek who have taught me that learning is more important , getting respect in the community is much more important , if you have this mindset everything else will follow
