As far as working with a recruitment agency or not, we work with them for some roles, but not all roles, so it depends a bit on what you have in mind. Typically, we see direct applications from folks who are interviewing for internships or full time roles right out of university, and search firm applications more from those who are already working. I hope that helps!</p>",

We don't have a strict boundary between those roles internally (there are traders that spend a lot of their time doing research work, and researchers that work very directly on trading strategies, etc). While 'research' at Jane Street generally is very broad and encompasses large number of different activities, working on data science problems and regression models like this is definitely a part of it. For the purposes of this Kaggle competition, we needed to simplify the tasks somewhat compared to what we would do internally to make it more broadly accessible to a wider audience that might not have all the domain context and compute resources we'd have internally. We hope that it gives a representative \"flavor\" of a subset of the kind of work that traders and researchers do, and we're very curious about all the different approaches folks are taking.</p>",

As for Quantitative Research or Machine Learning, that probably depends on how much applied ML you've done to date. If the answer is \"not much yet\", then I would suggest Research, which is a bit broader of an umbrella."
