  "content": "<p>Hi everyone,</p>\n<p>With help from our colleagues at Kaggle, we're excited to launch the <a href=\"https://www.kaggle.com/competitions/image-matching-challenge-2025-ongoing\" target=\"_blank\">Ongoing Image Matching Challenge 2025</a>!</p>\n<p><strong>Why?</strong></p>\n<p>We started this competition in 2019, and we've held it every year since. After this year's edition, we've been at Kaggle (2022-2025) longer than not! But in the first few years, the challenge was self-hosted and aimed primarily at folks doing research on image matching: just like us, the organizers. We did not have the datasets and benchmarks we wanted, so we collected them and made them available. The move to Kaggle in 2022 exposed this problem to a much larger audience, and grew the competition far beyond our expectations.</p>\n<p>We did lose a couple things on the way. Our Kaggle competitions run only for two or three months, and while it's possible to submit after the deadline, entries are not shown on the leaderboards. That makes them difficult to reference in academic works or share with the community. This ongoing competition recaptures some of our original intent.</p>\n<p><strong>What is it?</strong></p>\n<p>A clone of the original competition. Same data, same metric, but without prizes, points, medals, or deadlines. The main difference is that there is a single leaderboard combining all the data, without public and private splits. You can also make up to ten public submissions per team. We hope you continue to participate!</p>",
