  "content": "<h1>What is a Neutrino Event?</h1>\n<p>A neutrino event is a burst of <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutrino\" target=\"_blank\">neutrinos</a>. Sometimes these neutrino events have low energy and are produced in Earth's atmosphere. </p>\n<p>However, other times neutrino events are high-energy events which are produced by astronomical objects commonly studied in <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-energy_astronomy\" target=\"_blank\">high energy astronomy</a> such as neutron stars, supernova remnants, and gamma ray bursts.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://i.imgur.com/6Z5nGg4.gif\" alt=\"\"></p>\n<p><strong>High energy neutrinos produce a zoo of charged particles when they interact with the ice. These particles produce an explosion of light and IceCube captures it with its DOM sensors.</strong></p>\n<p><img src=\"https://i.imgur.com/DYt5biS.gif\" alt=\"\"></p>\n<p>In this competition, we want to predict the direction of these neutrino events, which are represented by the <strong>red lines</strong> in the above videos. Specifically, we need to predict these lines angles, the <strong>azimuth and zenith angle</strong>. By doing so astronomers may be able to:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Detect more accurately neutrino events which may be quick and transient.</li>\n<li>Estimate the direction of neutrino events.</li>\n<li>Analyze neutrino events in real time.</li>\n<li>Dramatically increase the chance to identify cosmic neutrino sources</li>\n</ul>",
