      "content": "<p>Hi! <br>\nFunctional Tissue Units are basically small physiological units that are replicated multiple times in the whole organ(For Example Glomureli in kidneys). They are usually found around the blood capillaries. Blood capillaries supply blood to the cells through diffusion, i.e difference in concentration leads to blood diffusing out of the capillaries into the cells, as the wall of the capillaries is only 1 cell thick. Diffusion distance is the distance to which blood can diffuse. In our context - Functional tissue units are defined as a three-dimensional block of cells centred around a capillary where each cell is within diffusion distance from any other cell within the same block.</p>\n<p>We need to build an algorithm which can identify these FTU's because we are attemmpting to build a map of the human body, <strong><em>at a cellular level !!!</em></strong></p>\n<p>The following info has been taken from this paper - <a href=\"https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.11.09.467810v1.full.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Robust and generalizable segmentation of human functional tissue units </a></p>",
