I'm genuinely curious about how methods and algorithms developed for last year's competition (or the year before that) were productionized to help in fighting against human trafficking. I always love to see how Kaggle competitions can help in social/environmental issues :)

We worked with competitors last year to glean insights from the top performing solutions, aspects of which were then integrated into an image search tool that is deployed at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. We expect that approaches that are developed this year will be more immediately relevant to the production tool as well-performing solutions must handle the issue of large occlusions like those that exist the real world, investigative images (last year's competition did not include occlusions).
