  "content": "<p>I'm looking at the code for the simulator and looking at the files which I downloaded.&nbsp; Among the downloaded files I have</p>\n<ul>\n<li>&nbsp;testFlightsRev3</li>\n<li>OneDaySimulatorFilesRev2 - a zip file which in turn contains:</li>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>flights_2013307_1540</li>\n<li>groundConditions_2013307_1540</li>\n<li>actualLandings_2013307_1540</li>\n<li>actualTakeoffs_2013307_1540</li>\n<li>weather_2013307_1540.txt.gz</li>\n<li>test_2013307_154_sample.csv</li>\n<li>Landing.csv</li>\n<li>Taxi.csv</li>\n</ul>\n</ul>\n</ul>\n<p>Now when I look the code and trace through it with the debugger i get the following:</p>\n<p>load dates from the configuration</p>\n<p>for each date</p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">load flight, weather and airport information</p>\n<p>for each submission file</p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">invoke runRoutesOverDays which runs each flight against all the dates.</p>\n<p>Other facts</p>\n<ul>\n<li>the dates list in the configuration file only has one date</li>\n<li>the submission file has all the routes for all the flights as a list of waypoints keyed on flight # and waypoint ordinal.</li>\n<li>So a route is NOT related to specific date!&nbsp; But presumably the route should have been calculated with regard to some specific date.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>So my question is<strong> - why do we run All the routes against ALL the dates?.</strong></p>\n<p>I realize that in our test data we only have one set of file corresponding to a specific date.&nbsp; So in this particular case there is only one date so there is no problem.</p>\n<p>I read the submission instructions which</p>\n<ul>\n<li>requests the sending of one and only one file.&nbsp;</li>\n<li>So, during this phase of the contest,&nbsp; you won't be running any other data sets other than those we've already been given.</li>\n<li>So if if we generate a sample submission and run it through the simulator on our own equipment, we should get the same number which will show up on the leader board after we post our submission - correct?</li>\n</ul>\n<p>One final question:</p>\n<p>the file <strong>&nbsp;testFlightsRev3</strong> in the download seems to be the same data in a slightly different format as <strong>flights_2013307_1540 </strong>in the zip file <strong>OneDaySimulatorFilesRev2</strong> I presume we're expect to use flights_2013307_1540 as a basis for generating our routes - correct?</p>\n<p>I hope these questions make sense.&nbsp; It seems that the data we've been supplied is a little bit out of sync with the capability of the simulator and I'm just trying to make sure I haven't confused myself.&nbsp; Thanks for your patience.</p>\n<p>Robert Ramey</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>",
