I've just downloaded the simulator from the data page, but I'm afraid a lot of files are not included, namely all the files specified in the app.config file after the basePath parameter...

Do we have to create them ourselves? I haven't looked at the code well enough yet to say anything, but I guess they're configuration file of some kind that will affect the final result.

Also, the source is in F#, which seems a bit surprising.  F# is a great functional language, though it's less popular here, at least so far. Maybe this contest will change that.

Clearly a lot of work went into the simulator, though.  So kudos to Kaggle/GE.  It should be interesting to read through the source to see how it all works. :)

I have the same question, and it is definitely not answered on the "Simulator Release" page. I posted a question in "Simulator Issues and Bug Reports" but I have not received an answer yet.

Ben Hamner also provided a github for the sampleSubmission.csv, available here:

This doesn't use the simulator to generate the submission, so it also does not help to resolve the issue of where all of these seemingly necessary configuration files.

It's a pretty ambitious project, so it's no wonder that there are some hold ups, but I hope we can resolve these issues soon!

The third paragraph of this post says: We have not yet released samples of the input files necessary to run the Simulator. These include configuration settings, flight initialization files, wind data, and airport data.
