  "content": "<p>Hi all,</p>\n<p>Is there a way using the given data to map airport code from fswindairport.csv file to the latitude/longitude/altitude points? This seems to be IATA code for the airport but we are given ICAO codes in the Airports.csv file.</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>",

      "content": "<p>For US airports it's easy to get the ICAO code, you just need to put a K in front of the IATA code. If instead you need to do something else I don't have the referred files at hand to help you.</p>",

I was trying to get coordinates for the airports from aforementioned file, and as it stands right now the file is unusable. </p>\n<p>Using the &quot;K&quot; prepend trick you are mentioning I cannot get even half of the coordinates of the FB stations / airports that we have in the file :(</p>\n<p>Looking at this:</p>\n<p>http://weather.noaa.gov/data/nsd_bbsss.txt</p>\n<p>the JON (FAA/IATA) code for the airport is actually PJON not KJON (so the &quot;K&quot; trick is not 100% right).</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Can someone (competition admins, hint hint, nudge nudge :) ) provide an insight into what external data sources may be allowed or provided to convert FD station codes (training2_fdwindairport.csv) into latitude/longitude? Can we get a full list of US airports with their FAA codes and lat/lon/elevation parameters ?</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>",

The &quot;K&quot; trick works only for airports in the continental US, which are the only ones considered in this competition.</p>\n<p>My suggestion is to preprocess you airports file removing the K in front of the ICAO code, and then match the new codes to those you find in the&nbsp;fswindairport.csv file.</p>",

Thanks for help. Will give it a go and see how far I get.</p>\n<p>Cheers</p>",
