I should be able to get everything I need with apt-get the README file tells you to first install fsharp which doesn't seem to be correct....</p>\n<p>I am assuming you installed using apt-get? I don't want it to go into default directory since I have a second drive so I am installing using make and seeing lots of errors which is kind of concerning... Hopefully this code compiles otherwise I will have to use my windows partition...</p>\n<p>Thanks again!</p>",

      "content": "I successfully got the simulator working on Fedora 18 following the directions in the README with the following  modifications. First of all, mono has to be installed before fsharp !! Then after installing mono, fsharp can't find it. To fix this I added the following environment variable:\n<br><br>\nexport PKG_CONFIG_PATH=$PKG_CONFIG_PATH:/usr/lib/pkgconfig\n<br><br>\nYou will have to check your distro, but in my case /usr/lib/pkgconfig was the directory where <b>mono.pc</b> was  installed (hmm.. perhaps because the directions ask us to specify /usr as the installation prefix). Now, I could build fsharp properly.\n<br><br>\nI can now run the executable using <b>mono RunSimulation.exe</b> but I have trouble compiling the source. Basically xbuild always seems to give an error trying to run <b>fsc.exe</b> saying &quot;file not found&quot; (no indication of which file:-)), but there is an easy work-around to this, I simply manually run the fsc command using fsharpc and then xbuild proceeds fine after that.",

If you have root access then I would suggest to try installing in /usr .</p>\n<p>&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;</p>\n<p>Otherwise, you might want to post this question on a forum on fsharp.org.</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>",

      "content": "<p>The simulator does run on Linux/mono, but you need to have a recent mono. The default package for your Linux distribution may be too old. There are a few binary installers at <a href=\"http://go-mono.com/mono-downloads/\">http://go-mono.com/mono-downloads/</a> , or you can grab the sources and compile them.</p>\n<p>I would also set the .NET version to 4.0.</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>",

      "content": "<p>Hi Hiker,</p>\n<p>Yes, I am running simulation in Ubuntu 13.10. </p>\n<p>On vanilla installation, I've installed mono develop.</p>\n<p>Then went with following:</p>\n<p>sudo apt-get -y install libtool autoconf pkg-config g++ gettext make</p>\n<p>git clone https://github.com/fsharp/fsharp</p>\n<p>cd fsharp</p>\n<p>./autogen.sh --prefix /usr</p>\n<p>make</p>\n<p>sudo make install</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>(thanks to Anil Thomas, took this from his post)</p>\n<p>Once that was done, enabled F# language extension in mono develop.</p>\n<p>Then created a new blank solution and added 2x existing project (FlightQuest and RunSimulation), set the startup project to RunSimulator, set target on both to Mono/4.0, rebuild, and voilla!!!</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Obviously, to execute simulator you need to setup configuration correctly (.config files and prepare data directory correctly, namely the ground condition files need to be generated)</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>",

      "content": "I successfully got the simulator working on Fedora 18 following the directions in the README with the following  modifications. First of all, mono has to be installed before fsharp !! Then after installing mono, fsharp can't find it. To fix this I added the following environment variable:\n<br><br>\nexport PKG_CONFIG_PATH=$PKG_CONFIG_PATH:/usr/lib/pkgconfig\n<br><br>\nYou will have to check your distro, but in my case /usr/lib/pkgconfig was the directory where <b>mono.pc</b> was  installed (hmm.. perhaps because the directions ask us to specify /usr as the installation prefix). Now, I could build fsharp properly.\n<br><br>\nI can now run the executable using <b>mono RunSimulation.exe</b> but I have trouble compiling the source. Basically xbuild always seems to give an error trying to run <b>fsc.exe</b> saying &quot;file not found&quot; (no indication of which file:-)), but there is an easy work-around to this, I simply manually run the fsc command using fsharpc and then xbuild proceeds fine after that.",

      "content": "<p>The simulator does run on Linux/mono, but you need to have a recent mono. The default package for your Linux distribution may be too old. There are a few binary installers at <a href=\"http://go-mono.com/mono-downloads/\">http://go-mono.com/mono-downloads/</a> , or you can grab the sources and compile them.</p>\n<p>I would also set the .NET version to 4.0.</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>",

      "content": "<p>Hi Hiker,</p>\n<p>Yes, I am running simulation in Ubuntu 13.10. </p>\n<p>On vanilla installation, I've installed mono develop.</p>\n<p>Then went with following:</p>\n<p>sudo apt-get -y install libtool autoconf pkg-config g++ gettext make</p>\n<p>git clone https://github.com/fsharp/fsharp</p>\n<p>cd fsharp</p>\n<p>./autogen.sh --prefix /usr</p>\n<p>make</p>\n<p>sudo make install</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>(thanks to Anil Thomas, took this from his post)</p>\n<p>Once that was done, enabled F# language extension in mono develop.</p>\n<p>Then created a new blank solution and added 2x existing project (FlightQuest and RunSimulation), set the startup project to RunSimulator, set target on both to Mono/4.0, rebuild, and voilla!!!</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Obviously, to execute simulator you need to setup configuration correctly (.config files and prepare data directory correctly, namely the ground condition files need to be generated)</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>",
