  "content": "<p>Manoj Tiwari has used artificial intelligence techniques to make it look like he said things he didn’t say, news agency Vice reported.</p>\n\n<p>In various versions of the campaign videos, Manoj Tiwari is seen to be speaking in English, Bhojpuri and Hindi.</p>\n\n<p>Political communication firm 'The Ideaz Factory' worked alongside BJP to create such videos for positive campaigns, using the same technology used in deep fakes.</p>\n\n<p>A lip-sync deepfake algorithm was used and trained with speeches of Manoj Tiwari to translate audio sounds into basic mouth shapes.</p>\n\n<p>Although he faced an historical defeat, the use of technology like this is certainly surprising. If this is used more frequently by Indian politicians what impacts do you think it will have? What if this is used to invoke communal violence? People currently blindly trust videos, and hence the news. If it becomes so easy to doctor videos along with the audio they carry, who's going to watch the plethora of TV news channels and trust the speaker is really saying it all? The TRP could drastically go down and the media kings wouldn't like that when that happens. </p>\n\n<p>Recently the dude who created Darknet/YOLO <a href=\"https://twitter.com/pjreddie/status/1230524770350817280\">announced</a> that he's stopping his CV research citing unethical implications.</p>",
