  "content": "<p>I am working on a GCP instance and I'm attempting to download the data using kaggle's CLI and the command <code>kaggle competitions download birdsong-recognition</code>. The files are downloading one at a time and I get a \"429 Too Many Requests\" error after about 50 files (there are 21000+!). </p>\n\n<p>What am I doing wrong here? How should I go about getting the data to my server?</p>",

I tried upgrading<code>pip install kaggle --upgrade</code> and it appears to update but then <code>kaggle -v</code> still shows Kaggle API 1.5.4 and the problem persists. </p>\n\n<p>I also uninstalled, updated pip and reinstalled with version explicitly set to 1.5.6 and it appears to work, but then <code>kaggle -v</code> still shows 1.5.4 :(</p>\n\n<p>Also when I run <code>kaggle competitions download birdsong-recognition</code> I get an outdate API warning </p>\n\n<p>\"Warning: Looks like you're using an outdated API Version, please consider updating (server 1.5.6 / client 1.5.4)\"</p>\n\n<p>Edit: After install <code>which kaggle</code> showed /opt/anaconda3/bin/kaggle was persisting. I manually removed the binary with <code>rm</code> and then reinstalled with <code>sudo pip install --upgrade --force-reinstall --no-deps kaggle</code> and it appears to be working.</p>",
