      "content": "<p>Rohit,</p>\r\n<p>No.</p>\r\n<p>These are electrical phases, as in a polyphase AC distribution system (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-phase_electric_power). The phases are 180 degrees out of phase. An appliance like Dryer is generally a &quot;2 phase device&quot;, which means it runs off 240V\r\n using both supply phases simultaneously. Other appliances, like lets say your laptop charger or a table lamp, only derive energy from one phase, the other wire is connected to Neutral.</p>\r\n<p>Sidhant</p>",
