"content": "
What is the proper reconstructed slice thickness of CT for appendix, when diameter of normal appendix is 2-9 mm!! Most database used for machine learning provided thickness of 2 to 3 mm for axial (transverse) slice. But the data of AOCR 2024 showed 5 mm !! Reconstruction parameter can be adjusted for spiral CT acquisition.
",

      "content": "
Dear Professor Yeh,
\n
Thank you for your guidance. We believe that your suggestion is excellent.
\nHowever, considering that the diagnosis of acute appendicitis does not solely rely on diameter; there are many additional findings to consider. Also, slice thickness of 5mm is the most clinically practical thickness in most hospitals, which would make this model more easily adoptable in the future. Lastly, since all participants in the competition are using a thickness of 5mm, there is no issue with fairness. Therefore, we think the thickness of 5mm is acceptable.
",
