  "content": "<p>Dear Kagglers,</p>\n\n<p>Here are some timelines for the release of information about the PLAsTiCC challenge. Shortly after the Jan 15 deadline, we will release:</p>\n\n<ol>\n<li>the truth table</li>\n<li>astronomical name of each model in case anyone wants to learn more about the astrophysics</li>\n<li>list of model contributors ... it's quite a wide range of people from many institutions.</li>\n</ol>\n\n<p>We are also working on a few research articles aimed for astronomy journals around mid-February. We will post these articles on a public archive (<a href=\"https://arxiv.org\">https://arxiv.org</a>) so that you can access without paying subscription fees.</p>\n\n<p>The articles will cover: </p>\n\n<ol>\n<li>models and simulation methods,</li>\n<li>results of the challenge </li>\n<li>validation. </li>\n</ol>\n\n<p>Although the articles are written for professional astronomers, we think that there will be lots of useful/interesting information for Kagglers, and we will be happy to answer questions on the discussion board.</p>\n\n<p>Sincerely,</p>\n\n<p>The PLASTICC Team</p>",

The unblinded data and a data note for it are on zenodo (<a href=\"https://zenodo.org/record/2539456\">https://zenodo.org/record/2539456</a>), which should have DOI so it's citeable.</p>\n\n<p>Also note that if you folks are interested in writing a scientific paper about some of the GPU techniques that are useful for PLAsTiCC or for time-series classification/prediction in general, we're happy to collaborate! Some of the internal work we did to put the data together and validate it made heavy use of PyTorch, and definitely benefits from GPUs. </p>\n\n<p>We'll have a few papers out the challenge shortly, but nothing that addresses this topic specifically. There is likely a lot of interest in using GPUs for these sorts of tasks, and I personally feel it'd be a wonderful outcome of this challenge if we can work with contestants, and really demonstrate how their submissions are important to LSST and science in the coming decade.</p>\n\n<p>Best wishes,</p>\n\n<p>-Gautham for the PLAsTiCC team</p>",
